About Sahyadri CIC UK

Sahyadri CIC UK is a cultural and community-focused organisation dedicated to preserving heritage, empowering communities, and promoting sustainable livelihoods through heritage restoration, traditional handloom, crafts, and cultural exchange.

Our work is inspired by the rich cultural heritage of the Sahyadri region of India, where historic forts, traditional crafts, handloom traditions, and indigenous knowledge form an important part of the region’s identity. We believe that protecting this heritage is not only about preserving the past, but also about creating opportunities for communities and future generations.

A key area of our work is fort and heritage restoration. We support awareness, conservation, and sustainable approaches to protecting historic forts and cultural landmarks, recognising them as living symbols of history, architecture, community identity, and collective memory. Through heritage initiatives, education, cultural programmes, and partnerships, we aim to encourage greater appreciation and responsible preservation of these important sites.

Alongside heritage conservation, handloom and traditional crafts are central to our mission. We work to promote the skills and knowledge of artisans, weavers, craftspeople, and designers, creating greater awareness of their work and supporting opportunities for ethical and sustainable livelihoods. From traditional textiles to regional crafts, we seek to connect authentic craftsmanship with contemporary audiences while respecting the communities and traditions behind each creation.

Sahyadri CIC UK also aims to build meaningful India–UK cultural and creative connections, bringing together heritage organisations, artisans, designers, institutions, businesses, and communities. Through exhibitions, cultural events, educational programmes, textile initiatives, heritage projects, and B2B and B2C opportunities, we create platforms where culture can become a catalyst for collaboration and sustainable development.

We believe that a restored fort can tell the story of a civilisation, while a handwoven textile can carry the story of a community. Both are expressions of identity, skill, history, and human creativity.
